No Butter Chicken (C1)

This seems like a lot of work, but is so worth it if you like butter chicken!!!

Olive oil
Large onion diced
2 tbsp finely chopped garlic
2 Tbsp finely chopped ginger
2 Tbsp tomato paste
1 Tbsp cumin seeds
1 Tbsp garam masala
1 tsp red pepper flakes
1 tsp turmeric
1 tsp salt
1 lb chicken breast cut up
3/4 cup plain nonfat Greek yogurt
1/4 cup water

Cook onion in oil, add garlic and ginger. Cook a few minutes, then add tomato paste and cumin seed.

Cook 30 seconds.

Reduce heat and add the rest of the spices and then the chicken.

Cook until almost done.

Add water and yogurt and cook about 5 minutes!


  1. 1 lb of chicken breast cut up, yes it could -- if you're unsure, just add more cut up chicken.

  2. This is not a lot of work at ALL and it is really very, very good. I made with caulfilower rice and it went down a treat. You would not know that it did not have cream and butter!
